Public Works Week

May 21-27, marks National Public Works Week, which highlights the importance of public works in community life. This year's theme, "Public Works Connects Us," recognizes the people who plan for, build and maintain the roads, bridges, water and wastewater systems and treatment facilities we rely on every day to keep us healthy and allow our communities to grow and prosper.

National Public Works Week was first celebrated in 1960 to bring attention to the vital role infrastructure, facilities, and services play in the quality of our everyday life. Public works brings us clean running water, effective storm drains and sewers, sturdy roads and bridges, public transit services, safe building codes, livable communities with parks and green space and sustainable public facilities.
